Communion

Our custom in this parish is to come forward at the direction of the ushers. We receive the wafer of bread in our outstretched hands from the Eucharistic minister. If you wish to receive the wine, please assist the chalice bearer in holding the base of the chalice as you gently guide it to your lips. Some communicants prefer to intinct, or lightly dip the wafer in the chalice of wine. Some prefer to receive the bread only, in which case you simply fold your arms across your chest to indicate that you wish not to receive wine. Children are always welcome at the altar; if they do not receive communion they will receive a blessing.

During our services, communion is offered at the High Altar.  While most communicants receive kneeling at these services, some prefer to stand. Both postures are perfectly appropriate. At all liturgies, the customary response to the words of administration is "AMEN."
